Sometimes you just gotta take a classic to the next level.
This is your classic Grilled Cheese Sammie & Tomato Soup, but it’s spiced up and made fabulous.
Very little cooking skill required! You need to be able to make tomato soup at the same time as you make a delicious grilled cheese sandwich.
This is a great recipe to make if you have a friend coming over. It’s comforting, cheap, and tasty as hell.
Here’s what you need to make Spicy Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup:
- A can of tomato soup
- Half a soup can of milk
- Half a soup can of water
- A bit of white onion
- Half a fresh jalapeno pepper (more if you really like it!)
- A bit of green pepper
- A good chunk of cheddar cheese (or two smaller chunks, one of mozzarella and one of cheddar)
- 2 pieces of bread
- A little bit of butter/margarine
Here’s how to make it:
1. Pour the tomato soup into a saucepan and add half a can of milk and half a can of water. Whisk it around until it’s smooth. Cook it according to the directions on the can.
2. While the soup is heating up, grate the cheese (anywhere between 1/2 to 1 full cup’s worth). Chop up the onions, jalapenos, and green peppers and put it all in a bowl together. Stir it so everything is mixed up.
3. Don’t forget to stir your soup every now and then!
4. Butter one side of a piece of bread and put it butter-side down in a pan. Put it on medium heat.
5. Stack about half of your cheese mixture on top of the piece of bread in the pan.
6. Spread the cheese stuff out so it’s all evenly spread on top of the bread and it goes to all four corners. You don’t want any un-cheesy bites!!
7. Butter one side of the other piece of bread and put it butter-side up on top of the cheesy mixture.
8. Give it a squish with a spatula!
9. While your grilled cheese cooks, sprinkle some of the cheese mixture into the bottom of the mug or bowl that you’ll be eating the tomato soup out of. I like to use a mug.
10. Keep your eye on your grilled cheese and flip it when the bottom side is nice and toasty!
11. Pour the tomato soup into your mug, leaving about an inch of room at the top of the mug.
12. Sprinkle more of the spicy cheese mixture on top of the soup.
13. When your grilled cheese is done, cut it in half and put it on a plate.
14. Put the mug of soup on the plate and your dinner is served!! Deelish!!
This meal takes about ten minutes to make. It’s tasty, healthy, and downright satisfying.
